FAQs - Bridges Counselling

How do I make enquiries or make a booking?

Ring Bridges Counselling on 0415 752 544. David Bridges (Manager/Counsellor) will answer your questions, recommend the counsellor/s best suited for you, and book appointments.

Or email info@BridgesCounselling.com.au for quick questions.

What does counselling cost?

Standard sessions are one hour. The fee is per hour, whether one or more attend. Counselling starts at $35 for day appointments. Most counsellors have fees of around $80 to $100. After hours counselling with specialist counsellors or psychologists can range from $120 to $140. If you have financial difficulties, we may be able to offer you a special rate.

Clients with mental health disorders may be eligible for a Medicare Rebate through your GP. If there are financial difficulties, bulk billing may be offered to you.

How can I pay?

EFTPOS, common credit cards, cheque or cash

Can I claim a Medicare Rebate?

We have two registered psychologists, recognised by Medicare to provide Medicare rebates under a Mental Health Plan. If there is a mental disorder, a GP can write a Mental Health Plan to be brought along to the first session with a psychologist.

Can I claim a Medicare Rebate for Relationship Counselling?

Relationship Counselling is not a mental disorder and is not eligible for a Medicare rebate.

What are the qualifications of your counsellors?

Our team is highly qualified. All have at least 3 years of professional counselling training. See the Counsellors page for details of qualifications, professional registrations and professional memberships.

Does counselling work?

For many people, absolutely yes. There is much research to support the effectiveness of counselling.

What should I expect from a first session?

Counselling requires steps of opening up, and so it is important to feel a degree of comfort with your counsellor after the first session. A good relationship with your counsellor is vital for longer term results. It is important that you have enough trust in your counsellor. If you don't find your relationship with your counsellor is a good fit, please raise it with them, so that we can provide the best possible service or referral for you.
