How I Approach Counselling

I combine a caring approach with creativity, humour, and fun activities to help children and adolescents grow and mature while developing their skills in sessions. I believe collaboration, understanding and respect as being a fundamental element in building rapport for all sessions with clients.

Recognizing that every individual is unique, I use a range of evidence-based therapeutic modalities to tailor a relatable and individualised treatment plan for my clients. I also conduct standardised cognitive assessments to assess intelligence and cognitive ability for children and adults.

Regardless of the issues presented, I am willing to do my best in genuinely supporting the client to develop a deeper understanding into their concerns and skills to achieve their goals.

Professional Background

I am a provisional psychologist who enjoys working with adults, children and families.

I completed my Master of Professional Psychology clinical placement in the year 2020 where I am trained in a range of evidence-based psychological interventions for adults. This includes Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, and Applied Behaviour Analysis along with strength-based and positive behaviour frameworks for adults experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, and grief.

I am also adept in working with children with oppositional defiant disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, communication conflict and other areas of concern with the support and supervision from a registered psychologist.

I have previously worked with children and families experiencing mental health issues and learning difficulties under a not-for-profit organisation. My role involved assisting the child in the adaptation of their behavioural, emotional, social, and learning skills in a normal school environment while working alongside a multidisciplinary team, the school and the child’s family. It was a pleasurable experience working on building upon the capabilities of the child and watching
