How I Approach Counselling

The approach I take recognises the importance of each individual’s unique experiences, strengths and struggles.

I believe that the meaning we obtain from these experiences influences our thoughts, emotions as well as our physical and spiritual well being.

For this reason I use various evidence based approaches that encourage you to understand your past, take better control of your present whilst striving to improve your future. These approaches include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy(CBT), Solution Focussed Therapy, Schema Therapy, Mindfulness and I also have an interest in Neuroscience.

Professional Background

I have been working with Adults and Teenagers as a Psychologist in private practice for more than 9 years when I have had the privilege to help individuals with a variety of presenting issues.

Prior to this I worked as a School counsellor/Psychologist with Adolescents, teachers and parents in 3 different high schools across 10 years. During this time I also worked in an English Intensive School with students from various cultural backgrounds.

I have also supported individuals who have been challenged emotionally and financially and have faced homelessness as a result of various hardships.

I learnt a lot about the resilience of people during this time of my employment as a Case Worker with Wesley Mission’s Housing Program.
