Professional Experience
Joanne brings a breadth of life and professional experience to her counselling practice. Before training as a counsellor, she spent ten years working in the corporate sector as an engineer, followed by fifteen years as an educator, mentor, and leader.
As both a parent and long-term teacher, Joanne understands the complexities of raising children through different developmental stages. She also understands the pressures young people face as they navigate study, relationships, identity, and the transition from school into work, university, and adult life.
Joanne’s own experience as a counselling client has deeply shaped her approach. It has given her a strong appreciation for the courage it takes to seek support, and for the growth that can emerge within a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship. This perspective informs the warmth, humility, and care she brings to her work with clients.
Faith-based Experience
Joanne’s experience as a youth leader, teacher in a Christian school, and board member of another Christian school has given her a grounded understanding of how faith is lived out in diverse, real-world contexts.
She believes every person is made in the image of God and deeply loved by Him, and this conviction shapes her approach to counselling. Joanne seeks to walk alongside clients with compassion, humility, and hope as they navigate the complexities and challenges of life.
